This policy covers the ReadyRoam app for iPhone and Android. ReadyRoam is
made by Aengeln Englund.
In short: ReadyRoam doesn’t collect anything about you. What you add
stays on your phone, unless you connect the app to a ReadyRoam server you
choose. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
What stays on your phone
Everything you add to ReadyRoam is stored on your phone: trips, packing
lists, itineraries, the people you travel with, travel documents such as
passport and visa details, and photos and files you attach. It doesn’t
leave your phone unless you use one of the features below.
The app doesn’t send us (the developer) any of this, and we have no server
that receives it.
When you connect to a ReadyRoam server
You can choose to sign in to a ReadyRoam server, to sync your trips between
devices and share them with others. ReadyRoam servers are run by
individuals and organizations themselves, for example by you, your family
or your employer. The developer of the app doesn’t run one for you.
When you’re signed in to a server:
- Your account: the server stores your email address and a protected
version of your password. - Your trips are stored on the server, so they can sync and be shared.
The people you share a trip with see it, apart from the bags and
itinerary items you mark as private. - Your personal details (passports, visas, vaccinations, loyalty
programs, profile photos and attached files) are stored on the server only
if you turn on the backup, and then end-to-end encrypted: the server
can’t read them. Only your recovery key can unlock them. - When you join a trip someone shared with you, that trip’s server
stores your trip membership and the name you’re shown under.
The person or organization running the server is responsible for the data
stored on it. Ask them how they handle it.
Deleting your account
If the server allows it, you can delete your account in the app: Settings → Server and sync → your account → Delete account. This deletes the
trips you own (also for the people you shared them with), your backup, and
your place on trips others shared with you. Your trips stay on your phone.
Some servers, for example company servers, don’t allow this. Then ask the
server’s administrator.
Destination photos
To show a photo of a trip’s destination, the app looks up the destination’s
name with Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons, run by the Wikimedia Foundation,
and downloads a photo from there. Only the destination name is sent, along
with the information any internet request carries, such as your IP address.
See the Wikimedia privacy policy.
Maps
When you tap an address, the app opens it in Apple Maps or Google Maps. The
address is then handled by that app or website under its own privacy policy.
Permissions
ReadyRoam asks for access only when you use a feature that needs it:
- Camera and photos: to attach a photo of a document or a ticket, or a
profile picture. - Files: to attach a PDF.
- Notifications: for reminders about your trips and documents. These are
created on your phone; nothing is sent to a server for them.
Children
ReadyRoam isn’t aimed at children. Parents can add their children as people
on a trip; that information stays on the phone, or on the server the parent
chooses.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with a new
